With Omicron on the rise, Nepal is experiencing another surge in COVID cases. Throughout it all, NYF remains committed to continue responding to the ongoing COVID crisis. We are so thankful for friends like you on GlobalGiving for helping to make it possible!
Since June 2020, one of NYF’s ongoing COVID responses includes the distribution of lito — a traditional Nepalese hot cereal-style food made of roasted and ground wheat, soybeans, and corn — to children and families affected by lockdowns. It is shelf-stable, easy to prepare with a little water or milk, and full of the essential nutrients necessary to maintain health.
Through this “Lito for Life” program, we’ve already distributed over 6,644 kilograms (14,650 lbs) of lito!
With your support, we’re excited to continue delivering packs of lito to hospitals, health posts, assisted-living facilities, children’s homes, local nonprofits serving communities at risk for hunger, free food distribution points, and more.
Your contributions have also allowed us to expand this program to include distribution of pantry staples beyond lito alone. Where needed, items like rice, potatoes, eggs, and lentils have also been delivered to those in need. Thank you and dhanyabad!
