Beginning in March 2020, the Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF) has been providing an array of services to communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic itself and by the lockdowns and economic effects of the crisis.
As this project nears its goal on GlobalGiving, we at NYF are so grateful to each of you for contributing to this important emergency relief work. Your love and trust in our mission have allowed us to move quickly and flexibly—making NYF an important part of the pandemic response in Kathmandu Valley and beyond.
During the first full year of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 11,000 people (mostly children) received emergency relief through NYF.
Programs have included Community Nutrition Kitchens, Lito for Life, the Emergency Lifeline Halfway Home for Women, the COVID-19 Isolation Center, Access to Education, and psychological counseling through Ankur Counseling Center.
Though Lito for Life is currently our only active COVID-19 program, each of these initiatives are capable of relaunching quickly if the need arises.
We’re also happy to share that vaccine rollouts throughout Nepal have been successful, and that children between the ages of five and 11 at NYF’s permanent children’s home, Olgapuri Children’s Village, will receive their first shots next week.
Thank you again for helping to make it all possible!
