About 5,000 students from 40 public sector schools in Dupcheswor rural municipality of Nuwakot district of Nepal will be provided with corona virus kit box containing sanitizers, masks, gloves, soaps, sanitary towels and IEC materials. In addition, thermal gun to measure temperature/fever will be given to each of 40 schools. These supports will fulfill the demands of schools and students that have remained so far unmet public sector schools of due to their weak financial positions.
Due to closures of schools since last six months and series of lockdowns and district closures imposed by the governments on account of Corona virus pandemic, school children are deprived of education. Various awareness programs undertaken in the past have contributed to increased demand of students for sanitizers, soaps, gloves and masks. Nearly 5000 students and 40 targeted schools will be provided with such materials that they cannot afford to buy due to their poor financial conditions.
The project is designed to reach so far "unreached" students and schools with the following supports: 1. Corona virus preventive kit/bags containing sanitizers, surgical masks, gloves, soaps, sanitary towels, hand book on measures to fight Corona virus to 5000 needy students of 40 targeted schools 2. Thermo guns to measure fever in 40 target schools in Dupcheswor rural municipality of Nuwakot district Need for such supports were also expressed by some members of Teachers'-Parents' Association.
Ministry of education and other stakeholders at the center and local level are working out safe workable measures to reopen educational institutions in near future. This will, among others, certainly require students to strictly follow preventive measures mentioned above. All schools will also be required to have a thermo-gun to measure fever. This will in the long run motivate schools and all concerned stakeholders to explore ways to continue such project supports.
