13850 CHILDREN form Cape flats, rural areas schools in Western Cape South Africa has been screened, informed and showed how to wash hands, social distance and wear a mask. Children are facing being killed ,raped and abuse and now has to face another unseen enemy COVID 19.They are afraid, some lost family members. are alone, are hungry, have questions but are to scared to ask. As schools re-opened as the levels allowed our children had to once adapt to the new norm. Not attending everyday school, not allowed to play and run around as they have been used to, wearing a mask. Children must be screened everyday and teachers find it difficult to cope with this added nursing work.
Omega Centre provides not only health care through our integrated community and home based care project but assist schools and pre schools with screening and awareness drives. Children as well as their teachers will continue receiving Covid training, be screened, demonstrate safe distancing and hand wash techniques. They will also receive a mask and 50 ml hand sanitizer. Awareness drives will be done through flipcharts and story telling. Sick children who are at risk will be attended too,
The project will educate, screen and provide PPE to 15000-20 000 beneficiaries on how to prevent further COVID infections. They will also be able to share their knowledge and skills further in their communities and households leading to more and more people will prevent Covid infections. We will safe children's lives and we will leave no child behind as they will be educated to care for themselves.
