This project will support 36 families in Western Kenya who are providing care to the orphaned and vulnerable children in our program, who have been hit hard by a combination of locust infestation, flooding, and COVID19 all within the last few months. Through the funds raised, we will be holding three, monthly food and sanitation supply distributions where each family is given enough food supplies, soap and masks to last their family a month.
Kenya has been hit hard by three disasters in the last few months that has left families in the Western province struggling to provide food and sanitation for their children. A locust infestation, the worst of its' kind in almost 70 years, extreme flooding, and now COVID19. These three disasters have left families with decimated crops, lost homes, cut off from their villages and marketplaces, loss of businesses and income, and with a curfew that makes movement at all difficult.
Nehemiah's Restoration Organization will provide three month's worth of food and sanitation supplies to the 36 families that we work with in Western Kenya. These families are all caregivers to orphans and vulnerable children that they have taken in. These supplies will keep these families from starving.
The 36 families that we work with are literally on the brink of starvation. As most of them live hand to mouth, they can not manage to come up with enough income each day to feed their families. The three months' of supplies we are giving to them will give them the cushion they need to be able to get through this global pandemic and natural disasters.
