The COVID-19 pandemic is wrecking havoc on the poor and marginalized in India. This project exponentially expands access to healthcare, builds hand sanitizing stations in rural villages and suburban slums, provides nutritional supplements for those who can no longer work because of the shut down of Indian life, provides PPE for medical personnel and expands the reach of our clinics across the country.
This pandemic is being felt the most among the vulnerable communities of Indian society. They are suffering from hunger, fear, violence, and lack of access to health care. In addition, there is a growing rise of discrimination and prejudice against people in vulnerable populations, including the Dalits and Muslims.
Through our extensive network of established schools, clinics, and community workers, we are already reaching into the homes of those who fall through the cracks. We're standing in the gap for food, medicine, and education. We are poised and ready to expand our outreach to serve those just hoping to survive another day.
There are two important long-term impacts of this healthcare outreach: 1) Lives will be saved. People will be healed. Children will be fed. 2) More children will enroll in our schools. Everyone of these healthcare initiatives is in a village near one of our schools. By reaching into these communities, we build trust and expand our enrollment for the next school year. Education changes everything for vulnerable children. Everything.
