We are pleased to share an update on the Child Labor Monitoring Network in 5 LGAs project, an initiative designed to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and help return them to school or safer vocational pathways. The project is currently in its fundraising stage, with a total funding goal of $16,333. At this time, $0 has been raised, leaving the full $16,333 still required to begin full implementation. We currently have 0 donors and 0 monthly donors, making financial support the most urgent priority at this stage. Every donation received will go directly toward training community monitors, establishing reporting systems, rescuing children from hazardous labor, supporting school reintegration, and strengthening child protection responses.
Although funding is still pending, key preparatory activities have started. The five target LGAs have been identified based on child labor risk levels, and a framework has been developed for recruiting and training 50 local Child Labor Monitors. Early engagement with community leaders and relevant government stakeholders is also being initiated, while a mobile reporting system is being prepared to ensure cases can be detected and acted upon quickly.
Once the first phase of funding is secured, immediate implementation will begin with volunteer training, community awareness campaigns, emergency interventions for children at risk, and education support for children removed from exploitative work. With timely donor support, this project can create a lasting child protection network that helps hundreds of children move from danger back into classrooms and safer futures.
