Our project will expand Manglaralto Giving's food bank to include up to 50 new families and strengthen our work to fight childhood malnutrition. We currently provide food every two weeks for 75 families, but many more are waiting. With your help, we can add at least 50 new families and provide nutrient-rich foods for children under age two, improving health and hope across the Parish of Manglaralto, one of the two most impoverished areas in Ecuador.
In the Parish of Manglaralto, families face food insecurity and high rates of childhood malnutrition (35%). Due to high unemployment rates, many parents struggle to afford nutritious food, and children under two often lack the vitamins and protein they need to grow and thrive. Our food bank currently serves 75 families, but the need is much greater. We have the capacity and volunteer staff to serve more families.
Additional funding will help us manage and purchase more food, expand partnerships with other nonprofits in Ecuador, and continue our nutritional program with the focus on children, 0-2 years. Every two weeks, we'll deliver balanced groceries and fortified foods to more families in need-focusing on those with infants and toddlers at risk of malnutrition.
This project creates a healthier, stronger community. Ensuring families have consistent access to nutritious food, children can grow, learn and thrive. Over time, better nutrition reduces illness, supports education, and breaks the cycle of poverty, giving the next generation in the community of Manglaralto a brighter future.
