The Create Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of empowering the youth of Uganda and creating lasting positive change by constructing and operating an eco-friendly, sustainable Secondary School which will provide children in need a 100% free education, as well as serve members of the local community through job opportunities, educational programs and community outreach initiatives.
IN UGANDA 66% OF CHILDREN DROP OUT OF SCHOOL BY GRADE 6. The #1 reason: poverty. There is no taxation system in place which covers free schooling, if a child wants to attend they must pay tuition each term. 38% of Ugandans live in extreme poverty (below $1.25 PPP/day) & struggle for necessities (clean water, food, medicine) so education is often not an option. Children are often forced to drop out of school to help their families survive, & so Secondary School attendance is a staggering 17%!
We will be directly helping to solve this problem by operating a school which will provide 150 children/yr a free education! They will be provided a quality education in a community where they are empowered, encouraged & uplifted! We will prepare our future students w/the knowledge & skills necessary to become productive members of society, taking critical steps towards a more self-reliant Africa. Create will empower the local community by providing job opportunities and outreach initiatives.
150 CHILDREN/YR will receive a FREE education, transforming lives! Create's impact will reach far beyond our future students. It will be an innovative community built upon empowering the people of local villages with skills, knowledge & opportunities. The School will provide dozens of jobs, classroom space will be utilized after-school hours to offer Adult Ed classes, computer training, women's empowerment seminars, job interview/resume prep, etc. Over 1200 locals will be empowered yearly.
