In a world increasingly shaped by digital distractions, face-to-face connection is fading. Children and adults spend more time on phones and computers and less time talking, playing, and sharing life together. Conversations that once flowed naturally, child to child, child to parent, parent to parent, and neighbor to neighbor, are now rare. Many children even go to bed with their devices, and at school they are often more focused on screens than on the people around them.
Camp for Peace Liberia exists as a hopeful counterbalance to this trend. Our camps create outdoor spaces where children and young adults interact, tell stories, learn, and play together, keeping the human spirit and community bonds alive. During the period under review, we expanded awareness about the camp across communities and schools through meetings and outreach visits. Many young people expressed strong interest in participating in our year-end camp, and anticipation is high. We are confident that this year will see increased participation as youth step away from screens to engage nature, practice empathy, and learn from one another in person.
