A Heartfelt Thank You for Supporting Sustainable Growth in Abaco

By Kylie Hutton | Communications Manager

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are truly grateful for the generous donors who helped make our #GivingTuesday fundraising initiative, "Creating Sustainability in Abaco," such a success in partnership with GlobalGiving last November. Your contributions have played a vital role in enabling us to fund several community programs throughout 2025, and we want to take a moment to highlight the incredible impact of your support.

Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to empower both backyard and commercial farmers by providing essential tools and supplies. This support not only enhances their ability to grow their own food, but also directly improves food security and income opportunities for families and individuals. Many of these farmers are active participants in our monthly Farmers Market, which serves as a dynamic platform for small business owners to expand their ventures and contribute to a thriving, sustainable local food ecosystem. This marketplace is a cornerstone in strengthening the Abaco economy, and we couldn't have done it without you.

In addition, we are excited to share that with the help of volunteers from Many Hands and Convoy of Hope, Abaco Strong has implemented a Hydroponic Farming System at Patrick J. Bethel High School in Central Abaco. This initiative allows students to learn innovative, sustainable agriculture techniques while engaging with traditional farming methods through raised beds filled with nutrient-rich topsoil. The students are already on track to harvest a variety of crops, including tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and okra. School gardens not only offer educational benefits but also nurture a deeper connection to nature, promote healthy living, and build life skills. These efforts are supported in partnership with the Agriculture Department of The Bahamas, the Abaco Club at Winding Bay, and the TK Foundation.

As mentioned our Abaco Strong Farmers Market is another key project made possible by your support. This community-driven event provides a space for both backyard and commercial farmers to sell their fresh produce and offers over 40 local vendors a platform to showcase their unique products. From fresh produce and authentic Bahamian cuisine to homemade baked goods, fresh juices, original artwork, and more, the Farmers Market plays an essential role in promoting sustainability and economic growth while supporting local entrepreneurs and artisans.

Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support. Your contributions have enabled us to continue our mission of enabling the building of sustainable communities in Abaco.

We invite you to save the date for our Cocktails & Canapés Fundraiser on April 4th at Poinciana Farms in Central Abaco. Stay tuned for more details by following us on Facebook and Instagram.

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey and for helping us turn our vision for a better tomorrow into a reality.

With sincere appreciation,

Abaco Strong
