We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors who backed our #GivingTuesday fundraising initiative, 'Creating Sustainability in Abaco,’ in partnership with GlobalGiving last November. This annual event stands as our organization’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
Your generosity has empowered both Backyard and Commercial Farmers by providing them with essential tools and supplies. This support enables families and individuals to cultivate their own agriculture practice, enhancing food security and income opportunities directly. Many of these farmers are active participants in our Monthly Farmers Market, a platform that empowers Small Business Owners to expand their ventures, fostering a sustainable local food ecosystem and strengthening the local economy.
Our Youth Development Initiatives, including Youth Sports and Music Programs, offer participants invaluable opportunities for academic and personal growth. We're thrilled to announce our project in conjunction with The TK Foundation, The Office of The Prime Minister, and The Dundas Town Local Government to rebuild the Murphy Town Baseball & Softball Field and the Dundas Town Basketball Court and Park. These spaces not only promote healthy outlets for our youth through sports but also serve as vibrant hubs, promoting social awareness and well-being among our residents.
In December 2023, Abaco Strong hosted two Steel Drum Workshops in Central Abaco and on Green Turtle Cay. With your support, Abaco Strong funded the instruments, and professional musician and composer CJ Menge instructed the lesson. Participants of all ages took part and learned the fundamentals of playing the steel drums; We are proud to support this community initiative to bring the gift of music to our youth and adults alike.
Our ABC Breakfast Program remains steadfast in its mission to provide nourishing meals to 177 children at Coopers Town Primary School. A nutritious morning meal is essential for academic success, and with your support, we’re able to ensure that every child starts their school day right throughout the academic year.
