This Project plans to provide mental support to over 2500 youths in major high crime rate zones in Nigeria and provide empowerment to 300 youths with skills and jobs for self-sustainability. Our Human Needs Assessment conducted showed that youths who commit Crime did so due to poverty, unemployment, and family conditions. The Empowerment will focus on tailoring, shoemaking, furniture making, digital marketing, photography, hairdressing, coding whilst providing leadership and business trainings
Recent research conducted by an international body proclaimed Nigeria as one of the regions of the world with high crime rates. This prevalence of crime "scare" away investors, thereby retarding the growth of the economy. Our Human Need Assessment recently conducted on Crime Prevention stated poverty, unemployment, and family conditions as the major reasons why the Youths commit crime. This was further buttressed by the recent unrest in Lagos, Nigeria which occurred during the lock-down.
We will provide youths with skills sets and job training so they can be self-sustaining or employable thereby achieving personal goals and success. It is designed to also equip the youths with business, leadership and financial literacy skills that will support and ensure business sustainability and growth. During the program, the participant will undergo 6weeks coaching and mentoring activity designed to push them to be changemakers in their communities following our #OneyouthOnehome campaign.
Phase 1 of this program is aimed at providing mental support to over 2500 youths, dissuading them from committing a crime and empowering 300 youths to be self-sustaining so they are able to help their families, provide stability to their communities and act as changemakers using their life stories.
