Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) is redeploying a service project to the Adelaide Hills. This is to continue work in bushfire recovery in the area after stopping due to COVID restrictions. Located approx 1 hour out of Adelaide, South Australia; the community around the Cudlee Creek bushfire zone continues to recover from the Black Summer fire season and needs assistance with land clearing. DRA will be completing work orders as needed in consultation with the local bushfire recovery agencies.
The Local Bushfire Recovery Centre has over 100 work orders of property clearing and removal of burnt trees, fencing and equipment. The communities are in a race against time to clear this land before next seasons bushfire season begins. If the remains of last seasons bushfire remain, it will have a devastating impact if another bushfire hits.
Funding will assist Disaster Relief Australia get skilled volunteers on the ground to assist in the massive task of cutting burnt, dead and hazardous trees, as well as managing spontaneous volunteers to remove the rubble, clearing land to reduce the ongoing fire hazard.
Without this support, the local communities will be at extreme risk of further destruction if another bushfire comes through the community. as we are only 5 weeks away from bushfire season, this is an urgent appeal for support.
