Curbing the Community Spread of Ebola in Uganda

The Ebola outbreak in Uganda has demonstrated the vital role that community volunteers play in protecting public health. Across affected districts, trained volunteers are helping health authorities identify suspected cases, educate families, and encourage timely reporting of symptoms. Their dedication is helping to strengthen early detection efforts and reduce the risk of further transmission.

Through this project, community volunteers have conducted door-to-door awareness visits, distributed educational materials, and organized village meetings focused on Ebola prevention. These activities have helped thousands of residents better understand the importance of handwashing, avoiding contact with infected individuals, and seeking medical attention when symptoms appear.
