Dear Alhassan Foundation’s friends, believers & supporters,

We’re back at full power! We have a long waiting list of all the beneficiaries who are eager to get their active customized wheelchair. These customized wheelchairs are tailor-made for each case based on his/her weight, height, health condition and needs. It’s made with medically approved materials, and components. It’s also provided with cushions to resist pressure sores & any possible skin irritations. Using customized wheelchairs made wheelers’ daily lives so much easier; consequently, boosting their self-esteem and physical independence.

Thanks to your donations we were able to provide 50 beneficiaries with active wheelchairs, 20 of which are children. Children in particular need these customized wheelchairs that prevent the bone malformations traditional wheelchairs cause as they’re not suitable for everyday use.

We’re currently partnering with Ataa, a company that's concerned with enabling persons with disabilities in different aspects of life, to provide active customized wheelchairs to university students. Given our 7-years’ experience in this field, we’ve noticed how these wheelchairs are a turning point for wheelers. Kids, teenagers and adults of both genders get motivated to pursue all the hobbies or interests they had but thought they weren’t able to pursue since they’re on a wheelchair. After receiving these wheelchairs wheelers feel empowered to:

  • Play sports or take arts workshops.
  • Have summer internships.
  • Meet their friends and have a good social lives like their abled peers and much more.

The story that most embody the impact these wheelchairs have is Heba’s. When we met Heba she was an 18-years-old lady who had just finished high school and wants to study mass communication. She had big dreams but thought she couldn’t achieve them on a wheelchair. Heba took peer counseling sessions under our Rise Up project and she believed her dreams will come true and that her wheelchair will aid her through her journey and not hold her back from achieving her dreams. She gained confidence after receiving her active wheelchair, she felt presentable and empowered. Heba reached many goals during her university years. She became the biggest advocate for the differently abled’s rights, she made her entire university accessible and joined many committees concerned with human rights.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for your support. We urge you to continue supporting our cause and stay loyal donors to our cause by subscribing to a monthly recurring donation option. That will help wheelchair users in Egypt be more confident and accomplished. Please visit our Facebook page to read other success stories:
