Cycle Kosovo for Children is an annual charity bike tour where cyclists ride over 500 km to raise funds for essential medical equipment for public hospitals in Kosovo to help save lives and improve maternal and child health. This year, funds raised will help equip the Pediatric Clinic in Prishtina, improving treatment for children in intensive care and those living with diabetes.
Kosovo's infant and child mortality rates remain far higher than those in Western Europe. Despite more than a decade of work by Cycle Kosovo for Children and Action for Mothers and Children to identify gaps in essential medical equipment, significant needs still remain. According to recent UN estimates, 9 out of every 1,000 children die before reaching their fifth birthday. Public hospitals continue to face shortages that limit their ability to deliver care to sick children.
Since 2014, Cycle Kosovo for Children, in partnership with Action for Mothers and Children (Akcioni per Nena dhe Femije), has raised funds to provide essential medical equipment to hospitals in Kosovo. This year, funds raised will support the Intensive Care and the Endocrinology units of the Pediatric Clinic in Prishtina. Hospital leadership has identified equipment needed to improve care for children in critical condition and those living with diabetes, and ultimately improve outcomes.
Improving access to essential medical equipment helps hospitals provide better care for children at the most critical moments. Over time, this strengthens pediatric services, improves outcomes and contributes to lower mortality rates. With your support, more children can receive the care they need and have a healthier future. Monthly donations will continue to support Action for Mothers and Children's ongoing work to improve healthcare for women and children in Kosovo.
