The children of Mozambique are facing unimaginable circumstances. After two historic cyclones, Cyclone Idai and Cyclone Kenneth, have devastated the already vulnerable country, families are without shelter and in desperate need of food and clean water. Save the Children will scale up our existing response to support emergency relief efforts across Mozambique, as well as Malawi and Zimbabwe.
Children and families have lost everything. They are struggling to find clean water to drink, shelter, food and essentials. Hundreds of thousands of girls and boys are extremely vulnerable to diseases and malnutrition. Children are at risk of being exploited, especially if they have been separated from their families.
Save the Children is on the ground helping children and families devastated by Cyclone Idai and Cyclone Kenneth. So far, Save the Children's Emergency Health Unit operates six clinics, and the organization established 10 child-friendly spaces and 26 temporary learning centers that have reached more than 9,500 children. Save the Children has also distributed food to more than 67,000 people.
These disaster are two of the worst in southern Africa in decades. Save the Children has a long history of working in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe. We are responding to Cyclone Idai and Kenneth with emergency assistance. We need your generous gift to help protect vulnerable children and provide desperately needed relief to families affected by the storm.
