Food support update for 3,000 street children

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear respected donors,

Thank you for your kind support toward feeding 3,000 Muslim street children who go hungry each day in several Nigerian cities. We deeply appreciate the early gifts, even though the amount received so far is still not enough to begin daily food distribution. We want to update you on the need these children face and why your support remains important.

Across busy markets and motor parks, thousands of boys sleep in open spaces, beg for scraps, and survive on one small meal or none at all. Hunger leaves them weak, sickly, and unable to take part in basic learning or religious classes. Many drink unsafe water, leading to stomach infections that go untreated. In some clusters, more than half of the children report going a full day without food at least twice a week.

Malnutrition is taking a heavy toll. Children as young as seven show signs of stunted growth, fatigue, and frequent illness. Without steady food, they cannot concentrate, and many drift further into street life where they face beatings, exploitation, and other risks. Hunger remains the biggest barrier blocking any chance of learning or building confidence.

Our plan is to provide fresh bread and clean water every day in safe gathering points. These stations will allow children to eat without fear of being chased or harmed. They will also serve as a place where volunteers can check on their health and guide them toward basic support like shelter or informal classes. Once our funding reaches the required level, we will launch the feeding schedule and reach the full target of 3,000 children.

We remain grateful to all who have donated. Your support brings us closer to feeding children who sleep each night with empty stomachs and little hope.

Warm regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
