The Power of a Full Classroom
In Tororo District, school attendance has become more consistent since the introduction of daily meals.
Children are not only attending school more regularly—they are staying throughout the entire school day. This may seem simple, but it represents a major shift.
Previously, hunger caused early departures and frequent absences. Children would leave school to search for food or stay home entirely on difficult days.
Now, with over 1,600 children receiving meals, classrooms are fuller and more stable.
This consistency strengthens the entire learning environment. Teachers can plan better lessons, group activities become more effective, and learning outcomes improve.
A full classroom means more than numbers—it means opportunity.
