Diane had been hesitant to move with her husband to Mexico. He had been abusive in their home in California. When her husband received a generous job offer in Mexico he was so happy and he seemed so much better.
After they had been in Mexico for about six months he began to become controlling and moody again. After one year the abuse had progressed to physical violence. Libby loved her father but she had seen the abuse and was becoming fearful and withdrawn. Diane did not want Libby to grow up in a violent home believing violence was normal.
Diane emailed Pathways and began safety planning including covid-19 considerations trying to navigate her escape home to safety. After weeks of email planning, Diane was able to escape with Libby back to California.
