Francine contacted Pathways via our crisis email. She was fraught with despair. Her abusive husband had taken Lily to his parents house in Croatia and would not allow Francine to see Lily. He was punishing her for not having dinner ready one night. It had been 2 weeks since she had hugged her daughter.
We helped Francine devise a plan to "make things better" with her husband in a safe way so he would bring Lily home. It worked. We then helped Francine safety plan to get her and Lily back home safely to the USA.
It took months. Covid made an already complicated situation even more complicated.
Eventually, Francine & Lily flew home to safety. They are living with Francine's parents in a quiet, non-violent home. She has a lot ahead of her but getting Lily to safety was the first huge step.
