When Kelly contacted us by crisis email recently she was distraught. Her husband of three years had become so violent she had begun to fear for her life. He threatened to kill her if she ever tried to leave him. Kelly felt paralyzed with fear one minute and felt like she just wanted to get home as quickly as possible the next.
A Pathways' advocate was able to help Kelly understand her options and potential outcomes, safety plan and provide emotional support. The pandemic complicated an already difficult situation.
The good news is Kelly was able to get home to safety after a few very challenging weeks.
Here is part of an email from Kelly: "I would never have been able to get home without your help. You were my rock in the middle of a very turbulent sea."
