Heather had been suffering with abuse from her husband in Israel for several years. She tried to escape back home multiple times, but each time, he would somehow catch her making plans and the abuse would escalate. Recently Heather had to go to the hospital for injuries he inflicted upon her. Her husband told the doctor she had fallen down the stairs.
Milo started asking her why she has so many "booboo's" and "why does daddy always yell at you." She knew she had to get Milo out no matter what.
Our crisis email advocate Meg was able to help Heather create a safety plan and strategic escape plan including technology safety. Heather discovered that her husband had been monitoring her phone with spyware. He also had listening devices installed around the house.
Once this was known, Meg worked with Heather to devise a different strategy, making her husband think she was no longer trying to escape.
Over time it worked. With her husband's guard down, and the financial help of Heather's parents, Heather and Milo were able to get on a plane and fly back to the USA.
Milo loves being in the garden with his grandpa. Heather is happy to be able to live at her parent's house for a while while she gets much needed rest, recovery and counseling.
It's donations like yours that help us provide ongoing emotional support, safety planning, technology safety and more to victims in desperate need of returning home to the USA for safety.
Thank you!!!
