Tammy called us terrified in the middle of the night from the lobby of a hotel in Argentina with her daughter Anna and son Evan. Tammy snuck out of her apartment while her abusive husband was sleeping after a night of horrible abuse. She had all of their American passports but no money. We immediately paid to get Tammy, Anna & Evan into the hotel and wired Tammy cash to buy food & diapers. Within two days we were able to fly them all back home safely to the USA because of donations like yours.
We have connected Tammy with a counselor and an attorney to help her through the next steps of her journey escaping violence. She is receiving state financial assistance and hopes to move out of the shelter by April. Tammy sent this in an email.
"I was so scared. We had nowhere to go. If the hotel receptionist hadn't told me about AODVC I don't know where I would be. I think an angel guided me to that hotel lobby that night. We all sleep through the night now. Thank you for giving us our life back."
