This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for….you!
You have helped us provide 100,000 children with food, medicine and more during the ongoing conflict. 35,000 children have received Kids Kitchen Kits because of you. So, as you enjoy time off this week, with friends and family, please do tell them what an immense impact they can make on a child in Darfur, Sudan right now by donating:
Hawa's Story
Every two years, Kids for Kids Goat Loans provide for more families, as five kid goats from each flock are passed along to benefit another family in each of our 110 villages. Abdu, one of our incredible volunteers, just visited Mirikhis village, adopted in 2015, to distribute Kids Kitchen Kits full of urgently needed food for protein. Whilst he was there, he spoke to various beneficiaries and shared Hawa’s story and thanks with us:
“Hawa, aged 41, is married and has four children: two boys and two girls. She was selected as a goat beneficiary by the village lending committee as a second-generation beneficiary. She received five goats, which she took great care of. She created shade for the goats to protect them from the summer heat and rain. She used to collect straw and fodder from the farm, collect the remains of the crop harvest, especially watermelons, and bring water to the goats. She also followed up with the veterinarian to treat worms. During the rotation period, the flocks multiplied, and after the committee received five goats, the number was 25. She sold five billy goats and bought two beds, a mattress, sheets, and some cooking utensils. She now owns 20 goats. Despite the war and high prices, the goats helped Hawa's family provide milk for the children. She sells a male goat when needed for treatment or for special occasions such as ‘Aeid’ to buy clothes for her children.
Hawa thanks Kids for Kids for providing her with goat lending, medical services at the health unit, a midwife to help her birth kids, a medical assistant, and a paravet who follows up on the goats' treatment.”
It is all of you who make stories like Hawa’s possible. Thank you.
