Every day, the goats you have donated continue to save children’s lives in Darfur.
Over the past 25 years, Kids for Kids has adopted new villages whenever possible. Today, 110 villages are part of our programme, where sustainable projects continue to transform children’s lives.
One of those villages is Hillat Munir, which we adopted in 2016. That year, the village community came together to democratically select the poorest families to receive goats: five nanny goats for each family, and a billy goat shared between every three families.
Every two years since then, five goats from each growing flock have been passed on to another family in the village. Over the past decade more and more children have had fresh milk to drink, and women have been able to earn an income by selling surplus milk and yoghurt at the market.
In 2024, Nadia and her family were selected by the village Animal Loan Committee to receive goats in the third Goat Loan Rotation. Nadia and her husband have three small children, all under the age of five. For the past two years, their goats have provided fresh, nutritious milk every day, building up their strength and keeping them fed when little other food has been available in Sudan.
Nadia worked hard to make sure her goats had shade and fodder, and the paravets Kids for Kids trained in her village ensured the goats were provided with medicine to keep them healthy. Nadia has been able to sell male goats at market to earn an income. With her very own money she plans to buy kitchen equipment, curtains for their small home, and bed sheets for the first time ever.
In two years Nadia grew her flock of five goats to 27! And just last month Nadia was able to help another family in her village by passing on five of her youngest goats in the fourth Goat Loan Rotation in Hillat Munir village. This rotation means that 29 more families have goats for the first time. Generations of goats from that first flock 10 years ago have now helped over 100 families!
This is the power of a simple goat. They are at the heart of sustainability in our villages providing food, nutrition and economic and environmental sustainability.
Even now, as conflict continues in Sudan and families face severe food shortages, these sustainable projects are making a real and measurable difference. Thank you for helping Nadia’s family, and the thousands of others whose lives have been changed through goat loans.
We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received. But there are still thousands of families in desperate need who could transform their lives with the gift of goats.
Could you help by donating a goat today?
A Goat Loan doesn’t just provide milk and income for one family, it creates a sustainable future and helps entire communities thrive. Your support truly saves lives.
