Patricia Parker MBE, our Founder and CEO, has just received a proposal from our team in Darfur for the training of 30 new midwives! This proposal comes at a time of great uncertainty in Sudan, not just in the capital, but across the entire country. Now as things are beginning to settle and move forward again we too are looking to the future.
We have committed to adopting eight villages in Darfur, but because of the uncertainty in Sudan, we had not been able to start training the new communities in our projects until now. Luckily we have received continuous news from Darfur thanks to our Programme Manager, Salim, and our Project Leader, Hassan, and this means despite everything, we are able to continue our work. Their dedication has kept us able to function and continue working even with the lack of internet. One can do amazing things by text! We never give up.
As settlement looks likely now at the Federal level we can begin training in all our projects, and some of the thirty new midwives will be in these eight new villages. We are seeking funds to train 30 new women as midwives. Not only will they themselves save many lives and give a healthy start to little new borns but becoming a midwife improves the lives of women by teaching them a profession, giving them an independent livelihood - and one that will help hundreds of women who currently have absolutely no access to pre and post-natal care.
Please make a donation and share this project with anyone who might help. We would love to fund our 30 new trainees as soon as possible. Thank you so much for all you continue to do to make our work possible. You are saving and changing lives with every donation you make. So far we have sufficient to pay the first half of the training - please can you help us to ensure they complete it and are able to return to their villages with essential skills which will save lives.
