Madiha's Story - Plus Kids Kitchen Kits for 340 More Children!

Conditions in Darfur continue to be deeply distressing. On July 7th the UN reported: “The situation is particularly dire in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province, which has witnessed some of the worst episodes of the ongoing conflict between rival militaries. Those remaining in El Fasher are facing “extreme shortages” of food and clean water, with markets repeatedly disrupted.”  Children are hungry and thirsty, and the risk of famine is becoming ever more severe.
But you are saving lives. One of the families your donations have helped is that of Madiha and her husband Ibrahim, who, with their eight children – three of whom are under five – were forced to flee their home in Abgaw last August. After weeks of moving from one place to another, seeking safety and food, they finally reached Um Ga’al, completely exhausted. Um Ga'al is the first village we adopted 24 years ago. It is now much bigger and doing so much better thanks to the Kids for Kids' projects. Madiha described their journey as one of “torture and humiliation”, and by the time they arrived, her children were suffering from severe malnutrition. They were welcomed by the village Sheikh Abdu. The community helped them build a straw hut. Thanks to your support, Kids for Kids was able to provide Madiha with Kids Kitchen Kits for her little ones. We also provided two blankets, two mosquito nets and a donkey. Simple, practical items that have made a profound difference to Madiha’s family.
Just last week GlobalGiving held their July Bonus Day where they boosted your donations to our Emergency Appeal of over $100 to Kids for Kids. Together, 53 incredible supporters raised $10,137, which was then boosted by $1,293 thanks to GlobalGiving's Bonus Fund Donation!  In just one 24-hour period you raised $11,430 (£8,500) to provide Kids Kitchen Kits to 340 Children in Darfur.  We are in complete awe of your generosity - you should be incredibly proud.
We have already reached 49 villages with Kids Kitchen Kits and are currently targeting 40 more - providing children aged five and under with lentils, pulses, groundnuts and cooking oil to drastically improve their health as the conflict continues. We are desperately anxious to help more children across these 40 villages. Thousands of children are going hungry, ignored by the rest of the world despite all we know of the appalling conditions.  Please will you share our project with friends, asking them to donate now to feed a child facing starvation?  Your deep empathy and continued action is improving the health of children and their families during the most difficult and uncertain times. Thank you.
