The Day Center for Isolated Seniors is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for elderly individuals to receive care, engage socially, and gain valuable skills. One of the key focuses of our project is helping seniors overcome different challenges, such as the digital divide, gaining essential skills to improve their daily lives.
In collaboration with volunteers from Academia, we have introduced digital literacy workshops to empower seniors. The first session addressed common challenges, such as using digital banking platforms, booking doctor’s appointments online, and using smartphones. Many seniors have shared how overwhelming technology can feel, but our workshops offer a patient, hands-on learning environment where they can learn at their own pace. Volunteers play a crucial role by providing one-on-one assistance, ensuring that every participant feels comfortable and confident with their new skills.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand the program with additional workshops that will cover more advanced topics, including online safety, health apps, and digital entertainment. These sessions will help seniors become even more confident in using technology for both practical and recreational purposes.
To continue offering and expanding these workshops, we are seeking support for training materials and technology resources like smartphones and computers. Your contribution will enable us to provide more opportunities for seniors to engage with technology, stay connected, and lead more independent lives.
The Day Center is making a significant impact by helping seniors overcome digital challenges, and with your support, we can ensure they aren´t left behind in today’s digital world.
All the best,
The Mensajeros Family
