We help deaf children and adults in Goma break communication barriers by offering sign language training to teachers, families, and local professionals. Through 12 months of interactive workshops and community outreach, we will promote deaf inclusion, strengthen family bonds, and increase access to education, jobs, and healthcare for the deaf community.
In Goma, deaf people face extreme social exclusion due to a lack of sign language skills in the community. Families, teachers, and healthcare workers often cannot communicate with them. This leads to limited access to education, healthcare, and jobs, and leaves deaf individuals feeling isolated and powerless in their own communities.
We will provide sign language training to 100 people-teachers, families, and professionals-so they can communicate effectively with deaf individuals. This will reduce barriers, improve access to essential services, and foster deeper inclusion. Community events will raise awareness and create a more compassionate, connected environment for the deaf in Goma.
This project will create lasting inclusion for the deaf community in Goma. With trained individuals in schools, hospitals, and homes, communication will improve permanently. Deaf children will thrive in school, adults will access jobs, and families will reconnect. Over time, this will strengthen social unity and promote equal opportunities for all.
