This project aims to support Deaf Professionals in employment in the formal sector to be independent and active citizens contributing to more inclusive development programming and shape inclusive communities.
In Zimbabwe, Deaf persons are less likely to access formal employment due to discrimination and special adjustments that are required from the employer, such as the knowledge of Sign Language in the workplace. - these are often expensive and many organizations don't have budgets to cater for those. Nzeve seeks to support employment of Deaf staff at Nzeve to lead organisational activities and shape the development programmes and set an Inclusive Employment standards for other organisations.
This project will support the employment of Deaf staff and volunteers and offer them training to build on their career and other special workplace adjustments that are required. The support offered will increase Deaf staff's independence and allow them to meaningfully contribute towards more disability inclusive development and set an example of Disability Inclusive Employment for other organisations.
This project will support employment of 5 Deaf staff and Deaf 5 volunteers, providing them with a fair pay for their work, and career development opportunities. From the work experience gained and capacity development, Deaf professionals will have invaluable work experience and be prepared to advance in their current role or seek other job opportunities outside of Nzeve while promoting Disability Inclusive Employment in Zimbabwe.
