Defending Reproductive Justice

Raising awareness about overlooked abuses and recurring atrocities is central to our mission. More than ever, we need the voices of those affected by diminishing reproductive rights. As we work together to defend our basic human rights, we envision a world where all women have access to just and excellent healthcare. 

3 Generations is amplifying critical women’s rights work with the Marci Foundation. The foundation provides free Clitoral Restoration Surgery to women affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Founded by Dr. Marci Bowers, one of the world’s leading experts in this specialized procedure, the foundation also offers comprehensive care, trains future surgeons, and raises awareness about the profound and lasting impacts of FGM. Local women’s health organizations help recruit patients, and surgeries are offered at little to no cost. This partnership between skilled practitioners and international allies offers healing and restoration. 

Maimuna Gelle, MD, joined the Marci Foundation to learn clitoral reconstructive surgery, helping to end this harmful tradition in her home country. In her words: “We are trying to get away from the practices of female genital mutilation. I hope this leads to eradication in Somalia and helps the women who have gone through it.” The Marci Foundation’s crucial work reflects our ongoing commitment to reproductive justice and the global fight for all women.
