Our network of solar-powered maternal and family centers in southeast Nigeria remain extremely busy as they serve hundreds of poor and vulnerable women and children every day.
We have six clinics working at full capacity, and our 7th clinic is in development and should open by this winter.
We focus on maternal healthcare, safe delivery of healthy babies, infant and child vaccinations, pharmacy utilization, and the training of young nurses, midwives and traditional birth attendants. We also provide crucial primary care services for boys and primary and preventative care services for men.
Since 2014, we have screened and treat thousands of vulnerable pregnant women for anemia at our clinics. We have also facilitated almost 2,000 deliveries, with no loss of life.
In 2024, Pivotal, a group of organizations founded by Melinda French Gates, launched Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global open call to support organizations working to improve women’s mental and physical health around the world. On November 12, 2025, 80+ awardee organizations were announced, with GEANCO receiving a $1 million grant to support our maternal health program.
