We completed our network of solar-powered maternal and family centers in southeast Nigeria. The 5th center, the Robin & Estelle Clarke Family Cente, opened in mid-December. All five clinics are fully operational and thriving as they serve hundreds of poor, vulnerable women and children every week.
We continue to screen and treat vulnerable pregnant women for anemia every day and provide safe delivery "mama kits" to over two dozen rural clinics.
In November 2021, Dr. Kevin El-Hayek and a group of local Nigerian surgeons performed 29 procedures on 19 patients in 5 and a half days. Dr. El-Hayek also provided hands-on laparoscopic surgery training and gave lectures to two dozen local surgeons and medical residents.
