2015 RISE & WALK MEDICAL MISSION

By Afam Onyema | Chief Operating Officer, The GEANCO Foundation

From Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24, our heroic, hardworking surgical mission team performed 21 hip and knee replacements, forever transforming the lives of those poor, suffering patients and their loved ones.
We also installed the SIGN Bone Fracture Care program at the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital.  That hospital will now be able to fix long bone fractures on a on-going basis, and the patients won't be charged with the otherwise expensive screws and rods used in the surgeries.
While the surgeons were operating, I made a quick trip to donate clothing and children's medicine to a school founded by the family of the actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (from "12 Years a Slave").
We are forever grateful to our skilled, tireless surgical team and all of the generous donors who made this special mission possible!!
