The project will support the primary health care center in Kabarto 1 Camp, Duhok, Iraq with basic package of oral care including OUT, AFT and ART services to the Iraqi IDPs for 2 months. Oral diseases are the most common noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and affect people throughout their lifetime, causing pain, discomfort, disfigurement and even death.
The Global Burden of Disease Study 2016 estimated that oral diseases affected half of the world's population (3.58 billion people) with dental caries (tooth decay) in permanent teeth being the most prevalent condition assessed. The Oral Health is a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life as a part of Primary Health Care (PHC) considers a key response in national and international level.
Usually and at the national level, oral health services are mostly offered from regional or central hospitals of urban centers and little, if any, priority is given to preventive or restorative dental care, which developing BPOC (basic package of oral care) to meet the principles of Iraqi national health standards in Primary Health Care and the needs of children and adolescents is highly needed. This project will provide BPOC services to the displaced Iraqi people living in Kabarto 1 camp
Improved well-being and health status for the children, elderly and displaced IDPs in Kabarto 1 Camp, Duhok, Iraq.
