Conflict in Zamfara has left children traumatized, silent, and suffering from untreated depression. This project provides urgent mental health support to 200 war-affected children through art therapy workshops and peer support clubs. We empower youth to identify depression and access Psychological First Aid from trained teachers. Your support heals invisible wounds, turning victims of violence into resilient survivors who can reclaim their childhoods.
Banditry in Zamfara has created a hidden mental health emergency. Children witness violence daily, leading to severe, undiagnosed depression and PTSD, yet local schools lack the resources or training to help. Without intervention, these "invisible wounds" cause permanent developmental damage, isolation, and school dropouts. These children are currently trapped between constant fear and a total lack of support systems, suffering in silence.
We will break the cycle of trauma for 200 children through three concrete actions. First, we conduct child-friendly art therapy workshops to teach emotional regulation. Second, we train 20 teachers in Psychological First Aid to identify and support at-risk students immediately. Third, we establish "Safe Space" clubs in schools for ongoing peer mentorship. This holistic approach ensures children receive immediate care and a permanent support network.
This project builds a safety net that outlasts the current conflict. By equipping 200 children with coping mechanisms and training local educators, we create a sustainable culture of mental wellness in Zamfara schools. These children will recover their ability to learn, returning to school with focus and hope. We are not just treating depression; we are actively restoring the future leaders of a resilient community.
