DESIRE Society for HIV/AIDS Children in India

The onset of 2015 has transition in educational status of few of our children. The schooling phase has been  transformed to collegiate level.

Four  girls have passed out from 11^th standard schooling and one with 12^th standard with bright colors this year . The limitation of life has not been allowed to over come their dreams of studying  at higher levels. Now as they have passed out , we are preparing them for different courses in collegiate level.  Government as well private colleges will be approached . If  admitted , all the fee structure will be paid to let them join like any other normal child going to private college level.

The eldest girl , Ms Rinkusha , is setting an example for rest of girls to join for graduation course with possibility of earning at their own at later stage of their life. Beside regular course in college , she will be well equipped in art making skills like mehndi art making , candle making skills too with help of  special training within care home level.

This transition from school to college mediated studies have been successfully launched for them. It is platform for them created in DESIRE Society not only to give healthy atmosphere but basic educational certification to lead a sustainable life as long as they live on this earth. Within a span of one year , four HIV children were  enrolled and given shelter at Hyderabad Care Home, IDA Bollaram . It has touched the number to 70 at present at Hyderabad Care Home level.

Out of four children, the youngest HIV girl [ Deepika , 3 ½ yrs ] was admitted few months back. With loss of both parents due to HIV disease , she was left to mercy of her maternal uncle. Her younger brother , a negative child , had a place to live in their house. But HIV stigma has  a role to play for such children making it vulnerable to survive.

With deteriorating  health condition , she was brought to DESIRE Society. “ Dr Divya “ a private practitioner who knows about our work  gave chance for her to survive and get her enrolled with us.

Now she has recovered due to proper food and medication in time . She sits in campus schooling with pleasure of learning.Hope GLOBAL GIVING support generated gives favor  for such HIV children to have extended life span.
