SHAGUN SUCCESS STORY

Shagun, [2yr old, HIV girl child] was born to HIV positive parents in New Delhi. It is a mother to child transmission case so she turned out to be a HIV positive by birth. Her mother got to know about herself during pregnancy. After demise of her father, Shagun and her mother were staying at their Grandmother’s house for some time.

She is on ART medication so needs special care in terms of nutritive food and medication on daily basis. Unable to give extra support, HIV stigma associated made her mother to look for an orphanage.

Being neglected by the society, Shagun’s mother lose hope and not able to find any place for her survival. During her ART, she met our Program Facilitator in hospital.

He brought Shagun and her mother to the DESIRE Society as they both are HIV positive.  Now Shagun’s mother is appointed in our care home as a care taker. DESIRE Society , has pledged to give her basis core needs. The nutritional diet is basis of our services to be given to her. She has gained weight after admission. ART drug adherence is practiced for us on daily basis. The net result is increase in CD4 count in turn giving them chance to fight against odds of this dreadful disease. The health wise improvement shows the love and care provided to this youngest HIV girl in Gurgaon Care Home level. The schooling is yet to be started but the search for proper private schooling is on move. The over- all development is targeted area for her.
