Progression of child life pattern at care home

Success story of Girl Child

The fair-smiling Girl [now at DESIRE Society Care Home] was at home with his family. She has Younger brother & one twin brother to her. The 6 years old girl lost her mother when she was just 4 years old. The cause of death turned out to be HIV positive case. After death of mother, the father diagnosed with HIV started looking for an orphanage.

The paternal family also wanted the children to be admitted in orphanage. Both his younger brother and herself was admitted in our care home. All the three children in family are diagnosed with HIV disease. We have taken up the task of HIV testing and ART usage for him. Recently she lost his father too. We are committed to work for such children so she will be taken care by all means.

The primary task of nutritive food is well planned and goes as per diet chart at care home level. The healthcare is prime concern for such children. She is regularly put on ART medication. The balance of food/ medical care has improved the overall growth of this girl. The discipline taught for daily routine in this context is followed by her. She is quite obedient in all respects while undertaking daily routine schedules.

She takes extra care when it comes to look after the elder inmates at care home level. The discipline learned is passed to other inmates with her involvement. At home with parents, she has started her education in Government school. After the admission with us, she is admitted into a private school. The English medium private school studies is also adapted well at her end. She is scoring well in private school. The general knowledge at this elder age is quite impressive. She wants to be the scorer in her class. We at DESIRE Society are going to give extra care for fulfilling her dreams.

The overall develoment of child is targetted intervention in her case. Her growth is going on steadily.

The continued support from like-minded people over the years can make us to strengthen such children’s better living at care home level.

Girl Child Case Study

The girl is an orphan child hailing from Telangana . Her parents were illiterate and worked as daily agricultural labors. She lost her parents due to HIV at age of 6 years. Her maternal aunt discriminated her from own children’s then her maternal uncle decided to take her out from the house and give education. At the point, he came to know about the DESIRE Society. The relatives enquired about the organization and admitted both the children in DESIRE Society. She was only 9 years, when she got admitted to DESIRE Society for care, protection and education. She was very calm, quiet and innocent during her childhood.

Desire society support

After the Admission she was under course of Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) and now is recovering due to the proper attention bestowed by the members of the Desire Society. As we know, education is most important, so she was admitted to Government school at Bollaram. The little girl grew up with care and love of mother from the care takers working in society. She has been loved and protected by other inmates and now this girl is completed 20 years of her beautiful life. She is perusing her career in social work. She is very ambitious and wants to do social service. Apart from studies she is very hard working and always help to other inmates with necessary help in studies. She is very good in dancing and artistic works, fond of Cooking, Mehdi Art and Some Useful Project Work (SUPW). She has completed Basic training in computers. The journey from 09yrs to 20 years has been successful and admirable.

She is studying in Masters in social work [ MSW] . After completion of this course she will fulfill dream to serve community in need. DESIRE Society is committed to support her to complete further education to acquire the brighter future and also help in all required manner until she gets married and settles in life.

Observations:

She is very intelligent, hard-working, helpful and well behaved girl.

Impact of GlobalGiving Association:

The completion of post-graduation is means of GlobalGiving funding to be utilized within their limited life span. This is in turn the path of progression leading a independent life by herself in future too.

progress report of boy child at care home

Success story of Boy Child [Mayank,Name Changed]

The youngest fair boy [now at DESIRE Society Care Home ] was at home with his family. At tender age of 6 years ,he lost both parents with HIV. The mother expired two years back. The parents may not have imagined that the day will come when their children will be orphan. The father has expired recently. He is still to make out that father is not alive. His elder brother [ 10 years old ]has done the last rites of his father. His father has brought both children to our care home. Our community outreach worker has played a vital role in this regard.

We have given admission to both these boys at care home. They turned out to be HIV children as it is “ mother to child transmission case”. We have taken up ART initiation usage for him immediately after the diagnosis of HIV status. The side effects are observed due to ART consumption. So, he is put on the special diet. The supplementary nutrition packs is added food value in his diet.

Further , the private schooling is opted for him. He is attending the LKG standard along with other inmates in care home for specified private school. He is very calm and quite boy. The school has no complain although often he is not well due to ART medication.

He is referred as prince charming by school teacher as well as care takers [ mothers ] in care home.He is disciplined in all respects. This strength of his behavior has made us determined to let him grow like any other normal child in community.

The rejection by his immediate family will never be allowed to over shadow his growth while enrolled with us.The continued support from Global Giving over the years can make us to strengthen such children’s better living at care home level.The child sponsorship [ nutrition /medical care / private schooling cost] as received from GLOBAL GIVING can only give us means to protect and give dignified life span for such children in India.
