As part of our goals to provide sound structures to deprived schools in Rural Ghana, ten (10) deprived schools in the Northern, Western North, Ahafo, Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions were duly vetted per our criteria to provide assistance. Due to the fact that desks are inadequate in the selected deprived schools, Toku Foundation would like to assist in providing these deprived schools with desks through raising funds. It is our aim to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.
During the Last quarter of 2019, the Team at Toku Foundation Travelled to 10 rural settlements in 5 different regions in Ghana. This was a follow-up on the complaints of many deprived schools in Rural Ghana on the rise of 'inadequate Desk for Pupils'. It is estimated that about 700,000 students in deprived schools in Ghana have either desks in a bad state or none at all. This project shall benefit 3,000 students in 10 deprived schools in Rural Ghana.
Toku Foundation agrees with Sustainable Development Goal 4 which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. We do not want any child to be left behind, deprived or not, every child deserves a chance. This project shall somewhat reduce the skyrocketing menace which makes it difficult for children to learn under good condition.
This project shall use local carpenters to provide desks in the various rural settlements for the deprived schools. Successful execution of this project shall not only engage local artisans but also help during the maintenance of the desk. The provided desks shall diminish the huge number of children who do not have desks to sit and learn comfortably. Three thousand (3,000) children shall benefit from this project which in the long-run represents a significant number.
