In the communities where we work we have had the opportunity to get to know great examples of human excellence and perseverence. It’s extremely gratifying to know that the work we do every day has such great rewards. It’s amazing to see these people accomplish their dreams, confront great obstacles, and desire to see their community changed. An example of this is that all of the participants in the programs that also work as volunteers, striving to change their community.
In addition to the organization’s great start this June, we are sharing each of the experiences and achievements that occured in May. We invite you to read the rest of this report!
One of the groups with a lot of experience with the foundation is the “Girls Group.” It started two years ago in “El Triángulo” with participants between the ages of eight and eleven. The principal objective of the group is to involve the girls in varied tasks that avoid involvement in situations that endanger their welfare. Though it is hard to think about this, these children are affected by many problems that confront the country: teenage pregnancies, high levels of abandonment, and consumption of illicit substances among minors, among other situations that endanger not only the life of the children but also all of the boys and girls around them.
For this reason it is important to open opportunities, such as the Girls Group, in high-risk communities in order to help them and face all of these situations and the new world of adolescence. Our purpose is to build people to fulfill their dreams, goals, transform their community and support them throughout this journey.
On Saturday, the 11th of May, we started aerobic classes in El Triángulo focused on the Young Women’s Group (ages 12 to 22). This will occur every 15 days in the community center. This will allow these young ladies to be physically fit it will also allow them to complete their physical education requirement, as requested by their school.
