New events regarding in Boy With a Ball Costa Rica
Did you know?
This foundation started its work in El Triangulo de la Solidaridad (TS) in 2006 and it was legally recognized in 2008.
One of the first programs was walking around the community. By doing so, they were able to meet several people that are now part of the foundation, no just as volunteers but also as positive leaders for the community and it also allowed the beginning of the tutorial center; where the children assist to reinforce their scholar studies.
In 2009 they met a woman from Los Cuadros (LC). This event allowed the creation of a group to assist women that worked for sex. During 2012 the walking around the community tour started as well as the tutorial center.
Programs kick off
TS Girls’ Group started again last Saturday, January 25th with 15 small girls (between 8-12 years old). This program was deployed three years ago and now it is mentored by a young girl from the same community.
Female teenagers groups also start working again in both communities. In LC last Friday 31st and in TS last Saturday 25th. Several activities took place during the week end: football games, surveys, wallet and alike.
These are just some activities/program we do with and for the youngster of these communities. There are others to start soon. We will keep you posted in our fan page.
A new leader team was born
A fourth Foundation team started last November and most of its members live in LC. Child with a Ball teams are formed by people that want to change their community and wish to help others to fulfill their dreams.
To celebrate the onset of this team, they went to a natural swimming pool in El Rodeo, Coronado. They enjoyed the opportunity of sharing quality time together.
2013 Volunteers
During last year we had several foreign visitors that assisted the various programs of our Foundation. Among them we remember Emily Heiden, Nathan Eckstein, Felipe Dosantos, Beatriz Orozco, Katja Krejcir, Romain Orsini. Joan Godoy, Karol Hartz … all of them top level volunteers!
We also had the contribution of several national volunteers such as Claudia Menjivar, that contributed with physical education activities, Adriana Abarca that assisted in staff and pantry duties, Lilliam Barrantes, that assisted in several activities and many more that really showed a huge generous contribution in different areas of our daily tasks.
Thanks to everybody! We couldn’t survive without your helping hands!
School Supplies
In last week, we gave to 225 children school supplies from communities very poor in Costa Rica. They was very happy because these materials will support their studies and most of they did not has it.
Most of children that received a package are studying and participating in tutoring center with BWAB CR.
We are so gratefull with the people and business that helped and made possible this great goal. (Ulacit, Femsa Coca Cola, Volunteers, IBM CR, Annie Castro, Facebook's fans, others)
