GlobalGiving Project Report 1
Project Title: Developing Solar Energy Skills in Kyrgyzstan
Organization: Bulan Institute
Reporting Period: November 2025-March 2026
1. Project Overview
During this reporting period, the Bulan Institute continued implementing its solar energy skills development initiative in Kyrgyzstan. The project aims to strengthen local capacities in renewable energy by training energy specialists and expanding access to solar technologies.
Kyrgyzstan faces increasing energy shortages, particularly during the winter months. At the same time, the country has strong solar potential but lacks sufficient trained specialists who can install and maintain solar systems.
To address this gap, the Bulan Institute, in partnership with the Kyrgyz State Technical University, established a Renewable Energy Research and Training Centre, where energy professionals receive practical training on solar technologies.
2. Key Activities During This Period
During the reporting period, the project achieved several important milestones:
• Conducted solar energy training session for 12 energy specialists from multiple regions of Kyrgyzstan
• Provided both theoretical and practical instruction on solar panel installation and maintenance
• Strengthened cooperation with national energy stakeholders and technical institutions
• Continued development of the Renewable Energy Research and Training Centre
• Prepared new community-focused initiatives promoting solar solutions for households
These activities are helping build a new generation of solar technicians capable of supporting the country’s transition to renewable energy.
3. Results and Impact
The project has already begun generating measurable results.
Key outcomes include:
• Dozens of energy specialists trained in solar installation and maintenance
• Participants selected from several regions of Kyrgyzstan, ensuring broader national impact
• Increased technical capacity to support solar deployment across the country
• Greater awareness among professionals about renewable energy technologies
By strengthening technical skills and knowledge, the project contributes to energy security, climate resilience, and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan.
4. Next Steps
In the coming months, the Bulan Institute plans to:
• expand solar training programs for additional technicians
• strengthen the Renewable Energy Research and Training Centre
• begin demonstrations of solar cooking kits in communities
• increase outreach activities to promote renewable energy adoption
These efforts will further support Kyrgyzstan’s transition toward sustainable and reliable energy solutions.
6. Thank You to Donors
The Bulan Institute would like to express sincere gratitude to the GlobalGiving community and donors who support this project. Your contributions help build renewable energy skills, promote sustainable solutions, and improve energy access for communities in Kyrgyzstan.
