The project accelerates the adoption of solar energy in Kyrgyzstan by developing solar skills, raising awareness, and establishing a Solar Energy Training Centre at Kyrgyz State Technical University. We developed a solar training programme, and have already trained 24 energy specialists to install and maintain solar panels. With your support, we aim to train 250 energy specialists and 120 municipality leaders across the country.
Kyrgyzstan is facing a deep energy crisis, and in regions, families often rely on firewood or coal for cooking, which contributes to indoor air pollution, health risks, and deforestation. Energy poverty especially affects women and children who need clean energy for cooking. The Kyrgyz government has adopted an energy emergency plan, prioritizing the adoption of solar energy. However, the country is facing an acute shortage of solar-skilled energy specialists.
The Bulan Institute aims to support the Kyrgyz government's energy emergency plan by accelerating solar energy adoption. To do so, the project will establish a Solar Training Centre in Bishkek to equip engineers, technicians, and municipal leaders with solar skills and raise awareness about renewable energy among local municipality leaders, and empower communities to expand clean energy and reduce fossil fuel dependence.
By developing local expertise in renewable energy, the project will strengthen energy security, create green jobs, and reduce emissions. Trained specialists and aware municipal leaders will continue expanding solar energy use across Kyrgyzstan, driving the country's transition toward a cleaner, more resilient, and energy-independent future.
