Dear Donors,
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Deworm 5,000 Children in Lagos Riverine Slums project. Your concern for children living in riverine communities is deeply appreciated.
This project is planned to provide free deworming treatment to 5,000 children in Makoko and nearby riverine slums, alongside simple hygiene education to help prevent reinfection. Many children in these areas suffer from frequent worm infections caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation, leading to stomach pain, weakness, poor growth, and missed school days.
At this time, although donations have been received, the funds available are not enough to start the project. Activities such as purchasing deworming tablets, organizing mobile health visits, and conducting hygiene sessions cannot begin until additional support is secured.
Once sufficient funding is available, health workers will visit riverine communities to administer treatment, share hygiene messages in local languages, and distribute basic items such as soap to reinforce prevention practices. This combined effort is intended to improve children’s health and help them stay active and engaged in school.
We remain committed to carrying out this intervention and will provide updates as soon as implementation becomes possible. Continued support will help us break the cycle of infection and improve the well-being of children living in Lagos riverine slums.
With appreciation,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
