Greetings to all friends of VOICE Trust.
Thank you for your continued help and support.
Children with disabilities “include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis”. Children with disabilities are a highly diverse population group. They include children who were born with a genetic condition that affects their physical, mental or social development; those who sustained a serious injury, nutritional deficiency or infection that resulted in long-term functional consequences; or those exposed to environmental toxins that resulted in developmental delays or learning disabilities. Children with disabilities also include those who developed anxiety or depression as a result of stressful life events.
Nearly 240 million children in the world today have some form of disability. This estimate is higher than previous figures and is based on a more meaningful and inclusive understanding of disability, which considers several domains of functioning, including those related to psychosocial well-being. Most children with disabilities have difficulties in just one functional domain. Psychosocial issues predominate at every age, in some cases in combination with other functional difficulties.
Shanthi and Victoria resides in Trichy district , South Irungallur village. Ishwarya Lakshmi , nine years old is their daughter. Shanthi works for daily wages and her husband works in a hotel. Ishwarya Lakshmi is studying 4th standard in Irungallur RC Primary school. Her legs are bent and flat, as she runs she falls down without balance. She was not able to participate either in sports or in culturals. So her parents met a physiotherapist and contacted VOICETrust for help.
We took her for consultation and gave her small physical tasks. The doctor advised them to use a roller to get proper shape and balance for the legs and feet. With the support you all gave Ishwarya Lakshmi received ortho shoes and the family showered their gratitude and love towards all friends of VOICE Trust.
We have attached pictures of two more children who have received belts from your help.
Many more Children are awaiting for your help and support, we have ten more Children in our list and with your continued support we are solving one by one problems children face due to disability.
