As COVID-19 has obstructed the learning of children around the World, our institution, like every other institution has seen the need to go digital. However, prevailing circumstances such as lack of access to digital gadgets for poor students is an obstacle to education in developing nations like Liberia. This project will ensure that at least 100 students continue their learning from home using tablets with pre-loaded educational materials and learning applications.
Currently, approximately 500,000 pre-primary students in Liberia are out of school due to COVID-19. Schools were ordered closed by the Government of Liberia and children have become idle, sitting home. This contributes to the increment in the already high illiteracy rate in Liberia. In a developing nation like Liberia where parents can barely afford their basic needs and lack access to technology, our project seeks to provide digital education for at least 100 students.
By providing digital gadgets with pre-loaded educational materials and learning applications, Sunnette Learning Academy will help students continue their education from the comfort of their homes. This will enable students to have a more interactive and exciting way to enhance their learning process, at the same time, building their digital literacy skills.
The provision of a subsidized digital education for 100 children will contribute to the reduction of the high illiteracy rate in Liberia, at the same time promote digital education among teens.
