Summary

Nzabela MOBILE Computer Lab (200 - 427 NPO) has identified the challenges faced by the rural population of South Africa and proposes a very cost effective initiative to address these challenges. We have the roll-out of mobile classroom where the unemployed youth can get quality computer training at no cost to them. One of the major advantages of these classroom units is the fact that they can be moved from one place to the next, bringing training to the rural population without having to travel.

Challenge

Disadvantaged and undeserved people in South Africa often lack access to essential services. As a result, one of the main priorities of the Government since 1994 has been to extend the quality and range of essential services from previously advantaged segments of South Africa to townships, informal settlements and rural areas. In the past, ICT access was not considered an essential service. Nzabela MOBI Lab has recognised the challenges as come & has come up with the solution below to assist.

Solution

Nzabela MOBI Lab has identified the challenges faced by the rural population of South Africa and have proposed a very cost effective initiative to address these challenges. We are proposing the roll-out of mobile classroom where the youth can get quality computer training from experienced facilitators at no cost to them. Major advantage of these classroom units is the fact that they can be moved from one place to the next, bringing training to the rural population without having to travel long.

Long-Term Impact

The purpose of the program is to build the knowledge and skills required by learners in End User Computing in all nine (9) provinces of South Africa, and to prepare the youth in the 4th Industrial Revolution. It is intended to empower learners in the rural areas and semi - urban communities to acquire basic computer knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to operate computer confidently in the End User Computing environment in South Africa and to respond to the challenges.
